Here's What Most People Deal With
Your mortgage broker doesn't talk to your insurance agent. Your insurance agent doesn't know your investment strategy. And nobody's looking at how all of it fits together.
You end up managing three or four separate relationships, repeating your story to each one, and hoping the advice doesn't contradict itself. It usually does — or at best, it just doesn't connect.
That's the problem Clearstone was built to solve.

Where Are You Right Now?
Clearstone serves clients at every stage. Find the situation closest to yours — or if several apply, that's exactly what the coordinated model is for.
Buying a Home
First-time buyer, upgrading, or investing in property. You need a mortgage that fits your full financial picture — not just the lowest rate.
Several of these apply — or not sure where to start? That's exactly what the first conversation is for.
Protecting Your Family
Life insurance, critical illness, disability, and investment solutions that actually reflect your family's situation — not a product checklist.
Growing Your Business
Group benefits, key person coverage, corporate lending, and strategies like Cash Damming that connect your business income to your personal mortgage.
Building Long-Term Wealth
Segregated fund investments, the Smith Manoeuvreâ„¢, and advanced strategies that coordinate your mortgage, tax position, and investment portfolio over 15+ years.
How We Can Help
Five coordinated service lanes — each one informed by the others.

One Practice. One Coordinated Picture.
At most firms, your mortgage broker has never seen your insurance policy. Your insurance agent has no idea what your investment strategy looks like. And your accountant is working from whatever pieces you remember to bring them.
At Clearstone, every lane feeds into one coordinated view — so a mortgage decision accounts for your insurance, your insurance accounts for your investments, and your overall strategy stays intact.
That is the difference between having four separate professionals and having one coordinated practice.

A free introductory call to understand your situation and determine whether Clearstone is the right fit.
We map your mortgage, insurance, investments, and goals into one coordinated view — so nothing is assessed in isolation.

Annual reviews, renewal management, and proactive monitoring. Clearstone stays with you — this is a relationship, not a transaction.
Every step is documented. Every decision is traceable. You always know where you are, what's happening next, and why.

Questions Before You Book?
We hear these from almost every new client. If yours is not on this list, ask us on the call — there are no wrong questions.
Q1: Is there a cost for the first call?
A1: No. The introductory conversation is free, and there is no obligation to proceed. We use the first call to understand your situation and determine whether Clearstone is the right fit — if it is not, we will tell you directly.
Q2: Do I need to prepare anything before the call?
A2: No. Come as you are. The first conversation is about understanding your situation, not reviewing documents. If we move forward together, we will tell you exactly what we need and collect everything securely through our encrypted ClearViewâ„¢ Client Portal.
Q3: Do I have to be in Charlottetown?
A3: No. Clearstone serves clients across Atlantic Canada — Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. Most meetings happen by phone or video, and our ClearView™ Client Portal means your documents, scenarios, and resources are accessible from anywhere. In-person meetings are available upon request in Charlottetown.
Q4: How does Clearstone get paid?
A4: For insurance and mortgage services, Clearstone is normally compensated by commissions paid by insurance carriers and lenders — not by you. There is no additional cost beyond what you would pay going to a bank or insurer directly. For Smith Manoeuvre™ implementation, there is a separate project fee which is disclosed in writing before any engagement begins. Full compensation details are provided before every transaction, as required by our regulators.
Q5: What if I already have a mortgage broker or financial advisor?
A5: That is completely fine. Many clients come to Clearstone for the coordination — not to replace every professional they already work with. We can operate alongside your existing team through our Bring Your Own Professional model, or handle the services you need under one roof. The first conversation will help us figure out which approach makes sense for you.
Q6: I already have a mortgage. Can Clearstone still help?
A6: Yes. Many clients come to us between renewals or when their situation has changed. We can review your current mortgage, assess whether there are savings or restructuring opportunities, coordinate your insurance and investment picture alongside the mortgage, and position you for a better outcome at your next renewal. You do not need to be buying a home to work with us.
Q7: What is the Smith Manoeuvreâ„¢?
A7: A tax-efficient strategy that converts your mortgage into potentially deductible investment debt over time. It requires a readvanceable mortgage, a long-term commitment of 15+ years, and careful professional coordination. Nicholas holds the Smith Manoeuvre Certified Professional (SMCP™) designation — the first in Atlantic Canada. The strategy involves borrowing to invest, which magnifies both gains and losses. It is not suitable for everyone, and suitability is always assessed individually before proceeding.
Q8: How is Clearstone different from a bank?
A8: A bank offers its own products and employs its own staff to sell them. Clearstone is independent — we are not owned by, affiliated with, or incentivized by any single lender or insurer. We access 50+ lenders for mortgages through Vine Mortgage, every major insurance carrier through IDC Worldsource Insurance Network Inc., and advanced strategies like the Smith Manoeuvre™ that banks do not offer. More importantly, we coordinate all of these together so every decision is informed by your full financial picture, not made in isolation.
Q9: What is the ClearViewâ„¢ Client Portal?
A9: A secure, encrypted online portal where you can upload documents, review mortgage scenarios, access resources, and track the progress of your file — all in one place. Your professionals — such as your realtor, lawyer, or accountant — can receive status updates through their own Partner Portal without ever seeing your private financial information.
Q10: What happens if Clearstone is not the right fit?
A10: We tell you. Directly and honestly. If your situation does not align with what Clearstone offers, or if another professional would serve you better, we will say so on the first call. We would rather point you in the right direction than take on a file we cannot serve properly. The introductory conversation costs you nothing either way.
Start With a Conversation
No obligation, no pressure — just a straightforward conversation about where you are and whether Clearstone makes sense for your situation.
If it is not the right fit, we will tell you. And that conversation still costs you nothing.
By appointment only. Virtual meetings available across Atlantic Canada. In-person meetings available upon request in Charlottetown.
